Join studio owners Amanda and Nikita at Studio Main for an inspiring, hands-on two-part lighting workshop designed to help you confidently work with both natural light and strobes.

Amanda will walk you through her natural light process, demonstrating how she reads the beautiful window light at Studio Main, positions her subjects, and creates the soft, natural, editorial images that define her work. You’ll have the opportunity to observe, learn, and then pick up your camera and put those techniques into practice.

Nikita will then take you through her approach to strobe lighting, demonstrating how she creates clean, polished, editorial images using studio strobes. You’ll learn how to create intentional, professional lighting, troubleshoot common challenges, and make thoughtful adjustments to achieve the look you want. She’ll demonstrate two versatile lighting setups and explain how each light, modifier, and camera setting contributes to the final image.

This workshop is about more than simply watching — it’s about learning, shooting, experimenting, and creating. You’ll leave with new lighting techniques, a deeper understanding of how to work with both natural and artificial light, and images you can use to build and elevate your portfolio.

  • Nope! This workshop is designed to be approachable whether you’re newer to studio lighting or looking to refine your existing skills. We’ll break down the thought process behind each setup so you can better understand not just what we’re doing, but why.

  • Yes. While there will be plenty of demonstration and instruction, you’ll also have the opportunity to photograph the model and put what you’re learning into practice. There will be time throughout the workshop to ask questions and make adjustments.
